Lenton
Lenton is Nottingham's equivalent of Fallowfield or Headingley: the area where the majority of UoN students end up after halls, and the most in-demand student neighbourhood in the city according to current letting season data. The Lenton Triangle, the area bounded by Derby Road, Lenton Boulevard, and Ilkeston Road, is where most of the student housing is concentrated.
The housing stock is almost entirely Victorian terraces converted into shared houses, typically four to six bedrooms. Rooms run from around £80 to £130 per person per week. Many landlords in the area now offer bills-inclusive packages, which makes comparing prices easier.
Campus is close. Most of Lenton is within a 10 to 15 minute walk of the main UoN buildings, and the QMC hospital is similarly accessible, which matters for medical and nursing students. The area has a reasonable range of local amenities including a large Asda on Lenton Lane, independent cafes along Derby Road, and good bus links into the city centre.
Crime in Lenton is lower than in several other inner Nottingham areas, which is worth knowing when choosing between options at a similar price point.
