The traditional kitchen diner is fully equipped for self-catering and includes an exposed brick hearth and a large wooden dining table. The house boasts four spacious bedrooms: on the first floor, a king bedroom, a twin room, and a shower room; on the second floor, another king room, a twin room, and a bathroom with a freestanding bathtub. Outside, an enclosed courtyard garden with outdoor furniture and a table with eight chairs offers a perfect space for al fresco dining.
Guests have access to the full house. A parking scratch card is provided for free parking in the W zones in Whitby, located in the welcome basket in the kitchen. Additional free parking can be found nearby.
Pets are allowed (maximum 1) with a £25.00 Accidental Damage Waiver fee, which covers up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay. Smoking and events are not allowed. The keys to Austen House are accessed via a secure key safe. Full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
Set on the West side of Whitby, Austen House is just a 5-minute walk into the town center. Explore Pier Road for pubs, arcades, and fish restaurants, leading to the blue flag West Cliff Beach. Cross the swing bridge to the East bank, with its narrow medieval streets, boutiques, and pubs. Climb the famous 199 steps to the Church of Saint Mary or discover the Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker's 'Dracula'. Whitby is part of the North York Moors National Park, offering beautiful woodland and moorland for long walks.
